About PDXWIT

The PDXWIT Story

Three women working and chatting with laptops in a modern, collaborative workspace.

PDXWIT has been part of Portland’s tech community since 2012, as a gathering place for women in tech to connect, grow, and belong. When the original organization dissolved in 2024, it left a gap that the Portland community felt deeply.

That gap didn’t stay empty for long.

In 2025, Kellyn Gorman took ownership of the PDXWIT name and Meetup community and relaunched it as something new: a grassroots, volunteer-driven community with no corporate funding, no institutional overhead, and no barriers to entry. Just people who care about supporting women in Portland’s tech industry showing up for each other.

The new PDXWIT is built around three things: education, mentorship, and allyship. We host meetups, create space for real conversations, and connect women in tech across the greater Portland area.  The goal is whether you’re just starting out, switching careers, or a seasoned professional looking to give back, PDXWIT is here to help you connect.

We handle no funding or revenue. Our home is pdxwit.net and our Meetup community.

If you were part of PDXWIT before, welcome back. If you’re new here, welcome home. Either way, this community exists for you.

A Note on the Old PDXWIT Accounts

When the original PDXWIT dissolved in 2024, several online accounts and websites were left behind and were not removed. These are not us. The new PDXWIT has no affiliation with the old PDXWIT LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky, pdxwit.org, or the Linktree at linktr.ee/pdxwit. We have no legal or financial connection to the previous organization or any of its digital assets.

Our only official home is pdxwit.net, the Slack channel and our Meetup group. If you found us somewhere else, please verify current content exists for 2026.

PDXWIT's Mission

PDXWIT is a grassroots community dedicated to connecting, supporting, and empowering women in technology across the greater Portland, Oregon and Southern Washington area. Through technical education, meaningful networking, and genuine human connection, we bring together women at every stage of their tech journey, no matter if from first steps to seasoned careers.

We are community-driven by design: flexible, lightweight, and free from the overhead of larger organizations. No corporate gatekeepers, no institutional barriers… just a passionate, volunteer-powered community showing up for each other and for the broader Pacific Northwest tech industry.

Our mission is simple: to make sure no woman in tech in our region has to navigate this industry alone.
